Both spiral and paperback Bucket Journals have thick covers, similar to what you will find on a paperback book. They also have a thin protective coating to help with repelling water.
That being said, you should treat a bucket journal as you would any paperback book - don't let it sit in or be exposed to a lot of water or it will be ruined.
